Supporting Guajoyo

Last march, the delegation from Austin visited Guajoyo and ran into their annual sad tradition: fighting wildfires. Guajoyo and the neighbor communities got together to fight it without a quick response from firefighters, the municipality of Tecoluca or the Government’s office of civil protection.
This is a reality they face every year during the dry season. It has recently gotten worse because the surrounding rivers are drying up.
For that reason, our friends in Austin raised some funds. With them, the team of CRIPDES San Vicente was able to purchase a small kit that will help both the team from Guajoyo and the team from Miramar with their struggle. If you chipped in and are reading this, thank you. Your support was really appreciated in both communities as you can see below:
El pasado marzo la delegación de Austin visitó Guajoyo y se encontró con su triste tradición de todos los años: tener que controlar incendios. Guajoyo y las comunidades vecinas se unieron para combatirlo sin una respuesta rápida de los bomberos, las municipalidad de Tecoluca o la Dirección de Protección Civil.
Esta es una realidad que enfrentan cada año durante la época seca. Ha empeorado recientemente porque los ríos de los alrededores se están secando.
Por esa razón, nuestras amistades en Austin recaudaron fondos y, con ellos, el equipo de CRIPDES San Vicente pudo comprar un pequeño kit que les servirá a las cuadrillas de Guajoyo y de Miramar con su lucha. A todas las personas que contribuyeron se les agradece. Ese apoyo realmente fue apreciado por ambas comunidades.
