Mission Statement

The Sistering Council of US-El Salvador Sister Cities, as the governing and leadership body of the organization, is composed of representatives of all member groups and staff, and is responsible for overseeing the overall health of the network.

  • The Council assesses the needs of the network and develops a Strategic Plan for the future, implements changes when necessary, serves as a liaison between the Network and the circles (local committees, national teams, staff, and CRIPDES), and ensures the continued fulfillment of the network’s’ Mission Statement by both USESSC and the circles.
  • The Council establishes organizational practices that reflect and promote the Network’s values, including decision-making by consensus, cohesiveness among member groups, commitment to racial, cultural and language justice, information-sharing, mutual accountability and respectful collaboration.
  • The Council ensures the fiscal solvency of the Network by creating a values-based budgeting process and document that is reviewed by its membership and staff at a determined schedule.
