Lacking water in Guajoyo – La escasez de agua en Guajoyo

The Austin delegation visited the community of Guajoyo. Jennifer Long, Sheryl Sherman, Miriam Fiorentino and Robert Gibbons had the opportunity to accompany the water committee and see how water springs have or are drying out.

 

 

They are relying on a secondary pipe to fill the tank that benefits approximately 3200 people in 4 communities.

 

 

After having the opportunity to meet with historical leaders and talk about the history of the community and how they repopulated the area in 1991, our visitors came to the city and learned more about the Jesuit priests and Monsignor Romero, among other things. Miriam expressed how important it was for her to witness the role of church people as advocates for justice in a country like El Salvador, where people are constantly overcoming challenging situations.

 

 

 

La delegación de Austin visitó la comunidad de Guajoyo. Jennifer Long, Sheryl Sherman, Miriam Fiorentino y Robert Gibbons tuvieron la oportunidad de acompañar al comité de agua y ver cómo las fuentes de agua se han secado o están a punto de hacerlo.

 

 

Dependen de una tubería secundaria para llenar el tanque que beneficia a aproximadamente 3200 personas en cuatro comunidades.

 

 

Después de tener la oportunidad de platicar con líderes y lideresas históricas y hablar de la historia de la comunidad y cómo repoblaron el área en 1991, nuestros visitantes vinieron a la ciudad y aprendieron más de los sacerdotes jesuitas y monseñor Romero, entre otras cosas. Miriam expresó cuán importante fue para ella ser testigo del rol de las personas de la iglesia como buscadores de justicia en un país como El Salvador, donde la gente está constantemente superando los obstáculos que se le presentan.
