The U.S.-El Salvador Sister Cities Network (USESSC) is happy to organize a zoom update alongside our friends from the association PROVIDA to provide the latest information on the health situation and challenges in El Salvador.

Karen Ramírez and Rudecinda Orellana, from PROVIDA.
PROVIDA is a humanitarian association that promotes participatory processes in comprehensive health, risk management and resilience to climate change, territorial development and institutional strengthening to improve the quality of life of the most vulnerable population with a focus on law, gender and generational challenges.
PROVIDA and CRIPDES are part of the Permanent Table for Risk Management.
Rudecinda Orellana
PROVIDA’s Executive Director.
Social worker and popular educator. She was a community health worker during the armed conflict.
She is a social fighter working within the Popular Movement of Resistance of October 12 (MPR12)
Karen Ramírez
PROVIDA’s Territorial Development program manager.
Pharmaceutical chemist and biologist. She started volunteering with PROVIDA in 1998 during the Hurricane Mitch emergency to verify the quality of the water in the lower Lempa. She has more than 20 years of experience working in water quality and community health with an emphasis in social determinants.
She is a social fighter working within the Water Forum.
