Update on Las Anonas /Actualización de Las Anonas

At the beginning of 2019, a group of representatives from Naya Global Health, formerly HDCP, visited the community of Las Anonas (sistered with Philadelphia) and started to learn more about kidney disease that for many years has been affecting many residents of the area. They learnt about the direct connection with the agrotoxics used in the region and the power sugar cane mills have in the implementation of policies that could benefit the health of all the inhabitants of the area.
During our visit, one helicopter sprayed maturant on the fields. It is impossible that these chemicals are not going to the lungs of all the inhabitants.

A principios de este 2019, un grupo de representantes de Naya Global, antes HDCP, visitó la comunidad de Las Anonas (hermanada con Filadelfia) y empezaron a aprender sobre la enfermedad renal que, durante muchos años, ha venido afectando a muchos residentes del área. Aprendieron sobre el vínculo directo de esta con los agrotóxicos usados en la región y el poder de los ingenios azucareros en la implementación de políticas que pudieran beneficiar la salud de los habitantes del área.
Durante nuestra visita, un helicóptero roció madurante en los cañales. Es imposible que el químico no llegue a los pulmones de todos los que ahí habitan.
