Third update: Rural Women and COVID in El Salvador

To commemorate the International Day of Rural Women, U.S.- El Salvador Sister Cities (USESSC) in alliance with the women’s roundtable of CRIPDES are organizing a new online event titled:

 

Rural Women organizing and violations to their Human Rights during the COVID19 Pandemic

 

During one hour, our speakers will talk about the different challenges Salvadoran women have faced during the covid 19 pandemic and how many of their problems have been ignored by the Government.

 

GUEST SPEAKERS

 

Rosa Lilian López Rivas. She has a degree in social work. She is a Human Rights and environmental justice defender. As a community leader, Rosy is an activist in defense of women’s rights for equality and equity. Rosy is a member of the board of directors of the CCR (CRIPDES regional in Chalatenango), where she represents the Women’s secretariat. Rosy currently works organizing women in various communities of Chalatenango, guiding a process of food sovereignty that allows them to produce healthy food with their families. 

Zulma Hernandez. She has many years of experience in youth, political and women’s organizing and has been part of the CRIPDES Board of Directors for 4 years. Currently she serves as the vice-president. Zulma has a long history as a community organizer. She joined CRIPDES in 2006 as the youth organizer in CRIPDES Sur La Libertad. Zulma works closely with women’s networks at national level. As a popular educator, Zulma has developed workshops and political schools for CRIPDES, the MPR12  and Sister Cities
