The National Gathering will be held in Austin, Texas this year on Columbus Day weekend (Oct. 11th and 12th). This is the same weekend as the Austin City Limits music festival so flights into Austin may fill up early.
Austin is hosting the Sister City National Gathering this year Columbus Day weekend Oct. 11 & 12. We know that Austin is a long way from every other sister city; so to encourage everyone to come we are inviting people to come early and stay late, in other words make a little vacation out of your trip here. Bring a spouse or a friend. People who have never been to a National Gathering may not know, it is a sister city tradition that out of town visitors stay in the homes of members of the host committee and their larger network. We are a large committee so this is not a problem. The national gathering itself is Saturday and Sunday during the day leaving evenings free.

1) Consider booking your flight into Austin months in advance to ensure your seat and get a good price, ACL fest is that weekend..
2) Southwest Airlines is often the best choice for flying into Austin, but they do not show up on Expedia or other travel sites.
