A Letter to the New Jersey Committee

Below is a letter from community of San Isidro Labrador to the New Jersey committee:

Dear Friends,

The members of our organization, ADESCOSIL, send you the warmest regards and hope that God has granted you abundant blessings for all the efforts you carry out to support our organizations and students. They are grateful for all of your unconditional support that helps them accomplish their professional goals and dreams to later contribute to the development of our municipality and country.

We are in the rainy season, so our people are planting corn and beans to assure that we have food for our families next year. A month ago, we celebrated our patron, Saint Isidro, and it served to enjoy and share with all of the community. We hope that one day soon you can join our celebration. We also celebrated Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. These are great and joyful activities for all of our people in which we share laughter, applause, hugs, energy, music and food, which is all made possible through the support of our municipal government.

We would like to express our concerns about water in our country since the right-wing lawmakers are pushing a law that proposes the privatization of potable water, which will affect the poorest population of the country. For this reason, different organizations between CCR and CRIPDES are organizing to defend the right to water access.

There are so many things we would like to share with you, but there is not enough space in this letter so we are waiting for you in our community. We wait with open arms.

Again, a huge thank you for your support to our scholarship recipients, Norma Orellana Melgar of Los Amates, and Adelaida Mejivar of San Isidro Labrador, who have collaborated with our organization in different activities.

We invite you to follow our page on Facebook: San Isidro Labrador, Chalatenango. There, you can see photographs of all the activities in our municipality.

With love,

Junta Directiva ADESCOSIL
