Sister Cities working on climate change

Now more than ever is important to think about the effects of climate change in our planet.

The most affected countries will always be the poorest.

El Salvador has been placed in the 16th spot of most vulnerable countries to climate change. We are indeed facing its effects: after a severe drought that affected the levels of underground water and crops, El Salvador is now experiencing an excess of rain due to hurricane Michael.

Besides dealing with the emergencies, we have to think about the overall situation. Because of that, a group of people within Sister Cities are having conversations on how to address this issue. We are doing it through our Climate Change working group.

During our national gathering, two of its members, Ann Legg and Willie Marquart, shared some of the conversations we have had so far. The rest of the Sister cities’ network provided feedback and some ideas on how to make this effort grow.

We share some photos of these activities below.
