Workshop: The Deep Roots and Bitter Fruits of White Supremacy

We invite you to participate in this workshop developed by Bangor committee member, Dennis Chinoy called “Say Its Name: The Deep Roots and Bitter Fruits of White Supremacy”

In the spirit of our U.S. – El Salvador Sister Cities Network’s commitment to make racial justice and equity a central focus of our work, Dennis is offering his time to share a presentation with time for discussion/reflection.

I did this program initially as part of a Maine Multicultural Center community forum this spring. Participants pretty uniformly felt it was valuable to them.

I’ve tried to make the presentation as much as possible a duet of serial images and script, striving for both provocative and evocative. It’s segmented into three parts with breaks and time for reflection/discussion between them, and at the end. So, roughly an hour of presentation punctuated with an hour of conversation mostly in smaller groups.

On the heels of the recent “35 Years of Solidarity” event in late April, I think this would be another valuable opportunity for us to absorb, reflect and process together.

Dennis
