Security for Human Rights defenders /Seguridad para personas defensoras

Today, members of CRIPDES SUR and UCRES participated in the second part of the workshop about security for Human Rights Defenders, developed by Tutela Legal and funded by AIETI.
After the recent increase of militarization in El Salvador and the growing risks faced by Human Rights defenders in the central American region, it was identified the need to discuss these issues and come up with security plans that could lower the vulnerability of CRIPDES teams in the five regions.
After working on groups on specific situations (such as the risks when travelling to different communities with gang presence), the pending homework for participants was to share a proposal that address specific vulnerabilities identified during the first workshop a few weeks ago and present it afterwards to the new board.
Sister Cities is grateful to CRIPDES for the invitation to take part on this workshop and, especially, to Tutela Legal for sharing the knowledge and available resources to seek the physical and online security of Human Rights defenders.

El día de hoy, equipo de CRIPDES SUR y UCRES participaron en la segunda parte del taller sobre seguridad para personas defensoras de Derechos, desarrollado por Tutela Legal y financiado por AIETI.
Dado el incremento de la militarización en El Salvador y el creciente riesgo que enfrentan las personas defensoras de derechos en la región centroamericana, se identificó la necesidad de discutir estos temas y elaborar planes de seguridad que disminuyan la vulnerabilidad de los equipos de CRIPDES en las diferentes regiones.
Después de enfocar el trabajo grupal en situaciones específicas (los riesgos al viajar a distintas comunidades, por ejemplo), la tarea pendiente para las personas participantes es compartir una propuesta para las otras vulnerabilidades identificadas durante el primer taller para, posteriormente, presentárselas a la nueva junta directiva.
Ciudades Hermanas agradece la invitación de CRIPDES a ser parte de este taller y, especialmente, a Tutela Legal por compartir estos conocimientos y recursos extra para buscar la seguridad física y cibernética de las organizaciones sociales.
