October 2011- Sister Cities Midwest Tour and National Gathering
From October 4th to 20th Sister Cities is going to be touring the Midwest with two representatives from our Salvadoran sister organization, CRIPDES.
On October 7th and 8th we will hold our National Gathering in Madison, one of our oldest sister cities, and the sight of the February rebellion against conservative attacks on social services and unions. On our worldwind tour we will also pass through the sister cities of Crystal Lake, IL, Chicago, IL, Wichita, Lawrence and Manhattan, Kansas and in Austin, TX.We will be meeting with sister city committees and speaking at local universities about the political, economic and social situation in El Salvador, hot-button issues like the fight against mining, and CRIPDES’ organizing, education and political work in El Salvador.
