Thanks to your contribution to our COVID19 fundraising, the CRIPDES Sur team was able to provide some relief to families before Amanda and Cristobal hit our vulnerable country. This weekend the Cripdes San Vicente started working to provide relief to families in that area as well:

 

 

 

Today, the CCR team in Chalatenango also started purchasing the items they will distribute thanks to your support. Your contribution will also be used to facilitate the logistics to do such work: Public transportation is still banned in El Salvador and the CCR can’t repair its vehicle because the workshop is closed.

 

Bukele has imposed a strict quarantine in El Salvador to slow the spread of the virus, though it has proven difficult in a country where more than 70% of the population works in the informal economy. The president and business sector have subsequently traded barbs over how to go about restarting the economy.” (X)

 

After tropical storms Amanda and Cristobal hit El Salvador, people’s economies are going to be in even worst shape. Remember that there are no measures in sight to support all people working in the informal sector and/or depending on remmittances. Even though the sun is shining, we will still need your help during the aftermath.
