How to participate in the Month of Action Against Mining in El Salvador
The International Allies Against Mining in El Salvador call on our friends and allies to support the National Roundtable against Metallic Mining and mining-affected communities in El Salvador to take a stand against Canadian-Australian mining company OceanaGold.
LETTERS
Send a letter to Mick Wilkes, President and CEO of OceanaGold, calling on him to withdraw the case. Click the link for a draft, you are welcome to make whatever changes are appropriate for your organization/ community and put it on your letterhead with signatures. Please email these letters by September 15th to sistercities.elsalvador@gmail.com
Send a similar letter to the President of the World Bank, Jim Yong Kim, demanding that he consider the World Bank´s supposed commitment to eradicating poverty and the counterproductive implications of the El Dorado mining project in this aspect. Again, these letters should be put on your letterhead, signed, and emailed by September 15th to sistercities.elsalvador@gmailcom

PUBLIC DEMONSTRATION:
Visit the Australian or Canadian Embassy in your state or World Bank office with information about the case, demanding that they withdraw the lawsuit and respect the sovereignty of El Salvador. Similar actions will be taking place in Sidney, Australia on September 5th in front of the World Bank office, on September 15th in Washington DC in front of the World Bank offices, and September 17th in San Salvador in front of the World Bank office.
