This August: Human Rights Accompaniment Delegation to Honduras

Since the fraudulent and US-backed presidential elections in November, Hondurans fighting for human rights have suffered even higher levels of repression.

This August 11 to August 20th, join US-El Salvador Sister Cities and Witness For Peace Southwest as we accompany our Honduran sisters and brothers in their struggle for a more democratic and just Honduras.

Witness for Peace Southwest has a long history of doing solidarity work with various partners in the Honduran social movement, concentrated in Tegucigalpa and the Aguan Valley in the department of Colon. US-El Salvador Sister Cities has been doing triangular solidarity with Honduran campesino partners in the Aguan Valley since the coup d’état in 2009, and most recently participated as international electoral observers during the fraudulent elections.

Our Honduran partners in the struggle for justice and democracy have asked the international community for solidarity in accompanyment. Accompanyment is one concrete way that international solidarity works – it strengthens relationships and facilitates mutual learning, and in some cases, it can save lives by signaling repressive forces that the international community is aware of and watching out for communities.

Join us this August!
