Join us in advocating for free and fair elections in El Salvador
With the presidential elections coming up next March and the municipal elections in January, intensity is rising in El Salvador. Mauricio Funes, the presidential candidate for the FMLN, is leading Rodrigo Avila of the right wing party ARENA by as much as 15% in the polls. If the FMLN wins the presidential election it will end 19 years that the ARENA party has controlled the presidency in El Salvador.
Many say that these are the most important elections in Salvadoran history.
More than 20 political and social leaders have been murdered in El Salvador in the past two years. The 2004 presidential election was well known for widespread fraud and the US Ambassador to El Salvador has admitted to US intervention in the 2004 election. For the sovereignty and human rights of our partners in El Salvador, join us in advocating for free and fair elections.
