U.S.-El Salvador Sister Cities on Tour and in the News

Sister Cities just got through with a great 11 day tour of the East Coast. Sister Cities staff were joined on the visit by German Gonzalez, who has been working with CRIPDES in the region of Suchitoto for over 12 years.  We visited the committees of Binghamton, NY, Arlington and Cambridge MA, Concord New Hampshire and the PICA and MOFGA committees in Maine. Along the way we also spread the word about the work of CRIPDES and Sister Cities through presentations at Western Connecticut State University, Wheaton College, Unity College, College of the Atlantic and the elementary schools of Arlington, Massachusetts where all fourth graders are studying there sister community, Teosinte. On October 9 and 10th we held our Annual National Gathering in Cambridge which included a very successful Night of Solidarity celebrated with the Consulate of El Salvador for New England, Centro Presente and CISPES.

Below you can see some photo highlights of the 2010 East Coast tour.

We are very thankful to all the committees that made this tour possible and all the people who hosted us in their homes. Thanks to the commitment of the committees like these, we are able to continue growing as an organizing and working in solidarity with the people of El Salvador.

Sister Cities also made the news twice during our visit. Click on the links below to see a clip from one of the new stations that covered our press conference with the Mayor of Binghamton and PICA’s interview on the news station WABI.
