Second Round of Voting and How to Keep Up To Date
With less than a week to go until the second round of voting, there is a sense of calm throughout El Salvador that would be unprecedented in elections past. Although Sister Cities is not bringing electoral observers for this second round, several other solidarity organizations will, and the Sister Cities staff and network supporters will be on the ground reporting as the day unfolds. To stay up to date on all things elections, follow this blog, created by the solidarity organizations that includes Sister Cities, CISPES, SHARE Foundation, and others, with updates posted every day leading up to the elections and on election day.
Thanks to the participation of hundreds of Salvadorans working at the voting tables, the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE), international electoral observers, and the thousands of people who showed up to vote in the first round in January, the 2014 Presidential elections have proven peaceful and conflict-free. We have every reason to hope and believe that the same will be true on March 9th — this Sunday — when the second round of voting reveals El Salvador´s next president.
