Community update 18-5-20

Yesterday, our friends at Teosinte reported:

“We are still locked up, with the new DUI measure (permission to move according to the last digit of your identity document), people go out in their vehicles and (for) the rest (…) there is an advantage, people come selling food suplies here and also the stores get more resources (…) The truth is that this situation is complicated. On the other hand, people are already working the land and they are about to plant their corn”.

On the other hand, the Chilama community reports that last Friday they held an assembly in which there was a raffle for a basket of food, with a value of $28 dollars. 46 families attended and they received recommendations on how to care for themselves during the pandemic.

They say that efforts have been made to receive support from the mayor’s office. The have said that they might receive support, but they have to be patient.

Luckily, local stores have managed to stock up and some people have credit to buy from them.

Of the 30 families benefited with Sister Cities baskets, some have distributed its content to share with others.

They claim to be “hoping illness will pass quickly”.

 

 

 

 

El día de ayer, nuestras amistades en Teosinte nos reportaban:

“Seguimos encerrados, con la nueva medida del DUI (permiso para movilizarse de acuerdo al último dígito de su documento de identidad), las personas salen en sus vehiculos y (para) el resto (…) hay una ventaja, que vienen a vender acá insumos básicos para la alimentación y también las tiendas se abastecen (…) Lo cierto es que esta situación está bien complicada. Por otra parte, las personas ya están trabajando la tierra y están por sembrar el maíz”.

 

Por otra parte, la comunidad Chilama reporta que el pasado viernes tuvieron asamblea en la que se hizo la rifa de una canasta con víveres, valorada en 28 dólares. 46 familias tuvieron representación y se les hizo recomendaciones de cómo cuidarse durante la pandemia.

Cuentan que se han hecho gestiones con la alcaldía para recibir apoyo. La institución dijo que tal vez podrían apoyarles, pero que tuvieran paciencia.

Por suerte, las tiendas locales han logrado abastecerse y algunas personas cuentan con crédito para comprar en ellas.

De las 30 familias que se beneficiaron con las canastas de Ciudades Hermanas, algunos han distribuido el contenido para compartir con otras personas.

Dicen tener “la esperanza de que pase esta enfermedad ligero”.
