The Bangor-Carasque sister relationship was officially founded in 1991. The communities fostered a strong connection through their mutual devotion to solidarity and dedication to supporting one another. The Bangor committee was vocal in US anti-intervention movements dedicated to ending military aid to El Salvador. Today, they support various regional and community-based projects in Carasque.

MISSION STATEMENT:

The Bangor Sister City Committee maintains a 30+ years long relationship of solidarity, friendship and accompaniment with the people of the community of Carasque, El Salvador.
Grounded in that relationship, we also act and advocate in solidarity with the larger Salvadoran rural popular movement of which Carasque is an active part. Committee members individually bring the inspiration and knowledge we gain from our sistering with El Salvador to the other struggles for social and economic justice in which we are engaged, both here in the US and elsewhere.

El Comité de Hermanamiento de Bangor mantiene una relación cálida con la gente de la comunidad de Carasque, El Salvador que ha durado más de 30 años; una relación basada en solidaridad, amistad, y acompañamiento. Con esta relación como base, también actuamos y abogamos en solidaridad con el movimiento popular rural más grande en el cual Carasque participa activamente. Las y los miembros del Comité de Bangor, como individuos, traemos la inspiración y sabiduría que hemos absorbido de nuestro hermanamiento con El Salvador a las otras luchas por la justicia social y económica en las cuales estamos comprometidos en los Estados Unidos y en otras partes del mundo.
