The Lawrence-El Papaturro Friendship Committee (also known as LEPFC) is part of the national US- El Salvador Sister Cities Network. Manhattan and Lawrence, Kansas, have had a sistering relationship with the small farming community El Papaturro (in the department of Cuscatlán) since 1994.

Delegations from this committee advocated for the rights of displaced Salvadorans and denounced the injustices the government was committing against small communities like El Papturro. Lawrence helped the community develop infrastructure after the war, supporting the construction of local churches and schools. They continue to support regional programs that seek to empower women and youth.
