Madison, Wisconsin is sistered with Arcatao, Chalatenango. The committee was officially founded in 1986 after visiting journalists reported on military repression in El Salvador. They defended Salvadorans’ rights and helped Arcatao develop the community after the war. Currently, Madison supports numerous local and regional projects in Arcatao. Together the communities have fostered a strong relationship founded on their mutual dedication to solidarity and ongoing support of one another.
